How does the Rio Scanning Laser x20 work?

The Rio Scanning Laser hair removal uses a laser to deliver an intense beam of light, which is made up of a singular wavelength of colour. This wave length of light passes through the surface of your skin, but is absorbed by the melanin pigments within your hair follicles. This allows the Rio Scanning Laser x20 to target your hair without irritating your skin.

The light absorbed by the melanin pigment causes a rapid heating of the hair follicle. This heat then destroys the cells that are responsible for hair growth. Once you have heated these hair follicles several times, the follicles become permanently disabled and unable to produce new hairs.

How long will it take to see the results?

The length of time Rio Scanning Laser x20 takes to see noticeable results varies from person to person. This is because everyone’s natural growth cycle, growth density, growth volume and hair colour is different. It’s estimated that on average most people will need to complete 5-6 treatments to achieve the full, long term benefits of this laser treatment.

How do I use it?

It is recommended that you trim any hair you wish to treat to 1mm-2mm in length. Use the +/- buttons to select the right power level for your skin type, place the wand over the area of skin you wish to treat and press the SCAN button. Hold the button until you have finished zapping the hairs in this area. Repeat the same process on the next area of skin you wish to treat.

Does this cause any side effects?

For each new area of your body you use the laser to treat, you should first perform a patch test before continuing with the full treatment. This will help to determine the maximum power level for your skin type. Your skin type can vary from place to place on your body, making it increasingly important to do a patch test every time you wish to treat a new area.

To prevent experiencing any skin irritation or discomfort, avoid excessively using the laser to treat the same area of your body. If you develop any localised signs of redness, you should stop using the laser treatment. Your skin should return to normal within the next 24 hours.
