Female sexual dysfunction is a common condition affecting around 40% of the female population. Whilst experts have attributed the sexual problem with a variety of physical and mental conditions, past studies would appear to indicate that one symptom; the inability to climax during sexual intercourse, may be down to genes. The study involved 4,000 twins and was conducted in both Keele and London. Experts also believe that the variability of the condition could even be a natural way for women to determine the best possible males to mate with. However, health experts are now looking into whether the illusive G-spot exists at all. The study, conducted at King’s College London was published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine and is the largest piece of research of its kind. Experts have been drawn to believe that the G-Spot is merely a figment of a woman’s mind, induced by glossy mags and sex conveyed in the media. However, sexologist; Beverley Whipple has counteracted these claims, believing it to be “flawed”. She highlights the fact that the researchers had clearly failed to include the experiences of lesbian and bisexual women, whilst also completely the discounting the fact that certain women may have any number of sexual partners, with differing sexual techniques. The women in the study, all of whom were twins, were quizzed on their sex lives and most notably their G-spots. They based their study on the fact that if the G-spot did exist, then both twins, with the same genes, would experience an orgasm. However, the study uncovered that such a pattern did not exist. Anybody suffering with FSD is advised to seek the advice of a trained health practitioner who will able to determine the best course of action. |
