Anti-depressant shown to boost women’s sex drive

The hunt for a “female Viagra” continues to generate feverous interest among drug companies.

If developed, such a treatment could cure Female sexual dysfunction: a major problem that affects millions of women around the world and causes them to lose interest in sex entirely.

Now it is being suggested that a particular type of anti-depressant called buproprion may help to alleviate the problem.

The evidence for this comes from Iran where researchers administered the drug to more than one hundred women suffering from female sexual dysfunction. For many of them, it was beneficial in restoring their sex drive.

It is believed that buproprion may help because it causes the release of dopamine – a chemical that triggers feelings of pleasure in the brain.

In some cases, depression or other medical issues are actually the cause of a reduction in the female libido. However, female sexual dysfunction can also occur when there are no such underlying conditions, and yet a woman cannot maintain a healthy sex drive.

There are already some approved treatments available for female sexual dysfunction, including hersolution pills ™, a libido booster. With information becoming that little bit clearer about why women lose their sexual desires for prolonged periods, at some point in their life, so will the demand for treatments increase.

Although medicine can help women with female sexual dysfunction, it is worth remembering that there are other solutions too. A multitude of seperate factors can affect your sex drive. Are you too stressed for sex? Are there other reasons, be they physical or psychological, which could be causing your libido to drop? It is important to ask yourself these questions and ultimately, to seek the advice of a trained medical practitioner, if you believe that female sexual dysfunction may be standing in the way of a healthy sex life.
